"When you grow up as the oldest of eight children and are involved in a family real estate business you intuitively assimilate knowledge and experience that facilitates an almost innate insight and aptitude for successful development. My father owned and/or developed 10,000+ acres of real estate in Atlanta area alone in the 1960-70's. When we relocated to Potomac, Maryland he developed subdivisions of $1,000,000 homes in 1970s market value! My dad developed and sold more than over $50,000,000 worth of real estate (in current dollars). During all these years I held various jobs from a survey crew grunt in high school to vice president of family company, which in retrospect I realize my dad influenced as a way to groom me; learning along the way how to acquire and develop properties.
In the early 1980's at age 26, I owned my own residential construction company. I quit to become vice president of family real estate company where I was involved in the full spectrum of development; from purchase to sale of several subdivisions. One such is Grace Lake, a 150+ lot subdivision. I named it Grace Lake after the property owner shared a miraculous story of how while waiting to die, his terminal cancer went into remission after he quit his job to build the lake. We sold the development to homebuilders who kept the name Grace Lake and it became one of the nicest subdivisions in the area at that time. At age 28 I built W. Nancy Creek Place, a small but fine subdivision of $500,000 homes. It was a real challenge using a private drive and involving two streams. It helped establish my philosophy of incorporating the God created natural environment as much as possible. This was reinforced when I served as a minister in Glacier National Park, Montana.
In 1986 God really dealt with my heart and I answered His call into the ministry, leaving a multi-million dollar family business. After receiving my MA and Ph.D., I founded and was president of First Love Church, Ashdun Hall AMI Montessori School, and Christian Counseling Consortium, directing a ministry center employing seventeen staff members. Within two years I had personally financed and built up the ministry center from nothing to more than a hundred students, counseling center with three counselors, several churches. Regrettably, in 1996, unscrupulous corporate officers misappropriated moneys and bankrupt the ministry center. I found myself a large creditor their bankruptcy. I had to go back into real estate fulltime, but now I am able to support worthy causes.
Since then I have assembled, zoned and/or developed projects involving hundreds of lots. Projects include Brookhaven Lakes, Gramercy Park, Anastasia Lane, etc. I specialize in creative, challenging projects and am able to succeed where others failed. An example is a property in Brookhaven that was contracted by two separate builders who quit after not being able to get but two lots. I was able to get four lots. I assembled a tract near Capitol City Country Club that no one had successfully accomplished in ten years. One person opined, “You worked a miracle . . .” It was to be Brookhaven Bridges, but after having the 7,000 ft2 show home designed by Harrison Design & Associates we sold it to condo developers needing green space for a great, no risk profit."
